PROSTHETIC RECORDS has signed New York City-based PRIMITIVE WEAPONS. The spacey, doom-infused band’s debut album, which was recorded at Wild Arctic Studios with Dean Baltolunis (American Nightmare, Goes Cube, The Hold Steady), will see a release this spring. The band previously released a 7″ produced by ex-Fudge Tunnel/Nailbomb member Alex Newport (Kylesa, The Mars Volta, At The Drive-In).

This is the one of the most crazy dense albums I've ever listened to. I guess it's progressive sludge like Mastodon or Baroness, but much more chaotic than either of those two bands. Despite this, the album is still quite catchy. This is definitely one of the more interesting modern metal bands that doesn't rely on any gimmicks. ganondox
